It looks like I do not qualify for my insurance to pay. I have heard that the surgery is cheaper in Mexico. I would love to hear from anyone that has had their surgery in Mexico and how much did it cost them. Any good surgeon recommendations?

well I am sorry to hear that you did not get approved, however if you ask me I dont think it would've been worth it..did the insurance company give you a reason why they denied you? It just takes alot of dedication and confidence in your self to lose the weight..the band is not for everyone..especially me as an example..i have been having issue's with the band since day one..if you get a chance just read over my blog...but PLEASE dont go to mexico just because its cheaper.. I have heard so many horror stories about Mexico..just make sure do really really research the doctor the area and everything else you can find out about it before you do it.. I wish you the best of luck and hope everything turns out good for you...Posted 11-07-2009 at 03:47 PM by vmack2001

I just heard from my sister yesterday that one of her patients went to Mexico to have his LAP-BAND® procedure but can not find a doctor in the states who will fill his band! He hasn't lost any weight and thinks he will have to go back to Mexico to get his band filled. Be careful and do your research. Good Luck.Posted 11-07-2009 at 09:05 PM by Treesd

Can I ask why you were denied? I was denied the firest time too (january 09) In August 09 I decided to try again and see what heppens, I was approved. Whe I was denied the first time Cigna said it was because I hadnt been over weight fro 24 consecutive months. OMG WHO WERE THEY KIDDING???? I had been overweight for 12 plus years!!!!!!!!! I just didnt have official domcumentation. In June of 09 they changed the rules to 12 months of documented obesity. So I was approved.Posted 11-16-2009 at 05:14 PM by rottie69
