So... here I am. I've decided to go ahead with my procedure. I have been approved by my insurance even though my BMI wasn't 40. I, against the better judgement of my parents and friends, have decided I'm ready to change my life.

My last few appointment are scheduled next week and my procedure is scheduled for 12/2. I'm nervous, excited, and worried. I have support, but I feel it may be half heartedly. How do you deal with this? I know that the actual surgery isnt the hard part. I know its after... when the real struggle begins. What if they are right and this isnt the solution, or what if there are complications?

Also, how did you guys decide on which band to get? Is there any comparison website that helped you choose?

Thanks for reading and checkin in!

Lizzy if you do a search on the Home page for LB vs. Realize you should find lots of threads there. I'm sure you would be successful with either band. I did my research and picked the LB- Allergan (liked the segmented inner band, the fact that it stays round, etc.). Good luck! -BG

    Hi Lizzy,
I feel the same way you do. I am not nervous about the surgery. But I'm scared to death about what comes afterward. I am an emotional eater, I eat when I am bored, and sometimes I eat just because its there. Is the LAP-BAND® gonna change all of that. I started my protein diet Tuesday and starved the first couple of days and have been cheating today. But I feel so cranky and depressed when I am hungy. I have only told my husband and my best friend. They are both good support, but all this lays on my shoulders. If I can't even do a 2 week protein diet how am I gonna live the rest of my life with a LAP-BAND®. Having second thoughts. Jen

Hey Jen.. why are you on a protein diet? My doctor has me going on a liquid diet, but only 7 days before surgery.

My surgery is scheduled for 12/9. Haven't been given any pre-op instructions yet. Should happen in a couple of days or so. I am wondering about a pre-op diet. Will any one give me the info they were given by their docs? Just want to be prepared to be successful. Thanks. Pam

Hi Pam, you'll need to have only liquids for either a week or two weeks before surgery. This is for two reasons... to get your head in the game and realizae the restriction you will be facing soon - make sure you dont bail!!! and the other is to shrink down the size of your liver so that its easier for them to do their work on your stomach! Hope that helps.
