LBT is great for information, which is good and bad! Just when I thougt I had committed to doing LB, I ran across the sleeve info, and now I am thinking it might be a better option. I like that there is little maintenance (no fills) and no device left inside me.

I will meet w/my surgeon to talk about it, and spend some more time on the VSG website. I am afraid of the complcations associated with LAP-BAND®, like erosions, slippage, etc. It seems that LB is falling out of favor in Europe and Australia, where they have been doing it longer.

I will also see whether my ins will cover LB. If not, and I will have to self pay, then I might go with the sleeve.

It is such a major decision. I am open to other's thoughts/opinions...

I was exactly the same way! I had my mind made up that I would do LB and then I heard about the sleeve and now I'm totally confused. I'm worried about the sleeve because it's so new and PERMANENT. But, do you really need the other part of your stomach and can the new part stretch out as big as your previous one? Lots of questions, but I meet with the surgeon on Monday and maybe he can help.

I looked at by-pass, then the sleeve, then LAP-BAND®.

I decided on the band because I can always have it removed later if it don't work out.

The sleeve is still considered experimental by some insurance companies and they won't pay for it.

It is permanent whereas the band is not.
You have to take a bunch of vitamins for the rest of your life.

It is a personal choice and there is plenty of material on the web to do the right research.
