I had my consult with the surgeon yesterday. It was not what I had hoped for. He sat down with a notebook and drew a picture of the stomach, liver, etc.. Than drew a picture of a gastric bypass and told me that would be better for me than the lapband. OMG!! He said it was because of the dietbetic things. I only have insulin resistence and am not even required to check my blood sugar ever day much less taking insulin for it. I can get a handle on doing the lapband, but I would rather die quick...

I started this WLS process as soon as I became eligible for Medicare in May of 2008. I got a list of Lapband Doctors in South East Florida and the first Dr I contacted was on my plan but the hospital was not a Center of Excellence. Medicare demands that this surgery been done in such a hospital. Ok, so I kept looking, found a hospital they would approve but the Dr is not on the plan. There doesn't seem to be any Dr and hospital in my County that meets Medicares approval. Thank goodness...

so i asked the rep at my insurance co all the questions i was suppose to and i got really excited cause it does cover lap band and i am eligible but its for people 21 and over. I'm only 19. i hate that!!!! Hi Welcome to my blog. I have been thinking about doing the banding for a long time and never has it been the right time. Finally my hubby and have made the decsion that we both want to do it as soon as possible. We are both morbidly obese. My husband health has been greatly effected. He has been in the hospital so many times with cellulitis that the dr said if he lost the weight would not be such an issue.
