Well i have been thinking for the past week that this surgery is not going to fix me, all the damage and baggage of being overweight my entire life will NOT just go away. This surgery is not a quick fix and i am pretty sure im going to want to give up at some point or wonder why i am torturing myself, BUT this blog is for me (or anyone else) to read when i am feeling insecure and discouraged. I got a little emotional when i wrote this letter to myself. I think its b/c i have to let mandi come out...

5/29/08, still 10 pounds down

Well, I started "soft foods" today, and was thrilled beyond belief to be able to chew a very soft, very moist chicken tenderloin. Who ever thought I could get so excited to eat a piece of skinless boneless chicken??? It felt so good to actually CHEW something! I was able to eat one chicken tender, 1/2 of a hot dog, and about 4 spoonfulls of green beans. I ate way too fast though, because I was so excited to be chewing real food, and it hurt!...

March 6th 2008…

This Thursday was a long time coming. The journey to get there started years before and failed attempt after another found me switching insurance companies and finally, finally committing to the whole idea. On January 7th, 2007 I was on my way to this day, the day that was going to change my life.

I went to bed rather late, but didn’t worry too much about my 5:30am arrival time. I was going to be sleeping most of the day anyway...

This morning the office was slow so I had time to reflect on all the things I have happening in my life right now. MAN I'm still amazed that I'm going to have this surgery. Well it's not official yet but I am on my way. Yesterday I met with the nutritionist and she gave me some good pointers and I know I will be asking her a lot of questions come post-op. My husband well he's my husband. He's supportive and I know that he just wants to make sure I'm not looking at this with the goal...
