One week and counting, a very long journey

Posted 05-14-2008 at 05:33 PM by Ollie123
Today is Wednesday, May 14th and I'm one week out from my surgery. I started my journey 2.5 years ago when my sister was banded. Jealousy immediatley deployed me to the internet to learn more about this procedure, combing through everyone's stories wondering if I could finally accomplish the one goal I haven't been able to tackle, a healthy state of being.

During my gestation period (pre-banding) I've learned a lot about myself. I love food so much that the glaring "red flags"...

Lap-Band Surgery..Who Me?????

Posted 05-14-2008 at 03:27 PM by a173601
Well I'm new to all this lap-band socializing. Honestly hardily anyone knows that I had the procedure..I almost didn't tell my family but my boyfriend said he would tell her if I didn't..guess he is a pretty good guy. No one at my job knows so really the only people that know are my immediate family...and I asked them not to tell people. I'm not a 'Star Jones' wanna be...I just grew up in a family of athletes and to them I felt this would seem like I failed. I never had the hardships of growing...

Still down-but getting better.

I hate to poop poop the band so early but I know myself and I need some more reenforcement to keep on the proper path. This thing is supposed to kick in where my will power can't. Or maybe not. Maybe I just wanted it to and read into the Lap-band information what I wanted to see.

I called the Dr about a fill and was told not for 6 weeks.
I really should have looked into the fill policy of this Dr before banding. Live and learn. There are other Dr's that fill more frequently.

Day Two - pre-op diet

Posted 05-14-2008 at 01:13 PM by pmvb11
Well, here I am, surviving this liquid diet. So far so good. The only thing that I miss is the chewing. I miss the chewing a particular food. Like, last night, my parents made barbecue and mashed potatoes and boy it smelled so good. But I didn't have any - just my shake.

Here are my measurements from this morning:

RT CALF: 19.5"
RIGHT THIGH: 30.5"
RT BICEP: 15.5"
NECK: 18"
CHEST: 51"
WAIST: 48"
HIPS:...

Things going about the same....I had another accident this weekend with my poor body. lol. I was moving a huge branch from my neighbors yard, and well, it was heavy and fell on my foot. Now my foot is so swollen and black and blue, I can't wear any shoes except very loose flip flops. grrrrr.

I had to sit the gym out, but last night, I couldn't take it anymore and went to the gym. I did 45 min on the elliptical and worked my lower body out. Had a great abs workout! My foot paid the...
