HotLikeMe's Story
I've always been a "bigger" girl. Only about 10 - 15 lbs overweight in high school and actually was pretty healthy looking into my early 20's. I had my daughter when I was 25 and gained 65 lbs. I lost that weight with the help of Phen/Fen. I had my first son at 30 and gained 70 lbs with him. I had lost about 20 lbs by the time he was 9 months old. But, then got pregnant with my second son and gained another 50 lbs on top of that..... I had gestational diabeties with him. 3 years later I still weighed 200 lbs. Then, my husband got his orders to be deployed to Iraq ..... gained 30 lbs more in about 4 months (Size 22/24). I didn't want to have the gastric bypass (even though my insurance would cover that 100%) because I was afraid of the mortality rate. While surfing the internet, I found the "band"!!! We refinanced our home to cover the cost and drove 2 hours north to see Dr. Rehnke. Then, July 25, 2005 (a month before my husband left for Iraq) I had the band installed!! I had a few bumps along the way - had some acid reflux issues - had the band unfilled and gained 30 lbs!! I've lost about 25 of that 30 and now am 165 lbs and in a Size 12. I've got some skin issues now, but have scheduled a "mommy makeover" for November 4, 2009.

Dr. Rehnke is AMAZING!! I've had 2 other friends that have also had their bands "installed" by Dr. Rehnke. They are also happy with him. I HIGHLY recommend him for anyone considering having the band or any other type of surgery. He tells you like it is (whether you want to hear it or not) and actually cares how you are - you're not just a number (or a paycheck)!!
