I decided to have lap band after a Texan friend mentioned it. I had never heard of it before. I researched it and decided it would be ideal for for me. I began the process in May of 2007. I went through a couple of doctors and decided on Dr. Koura because of location, price, and his kind staff. surgery was completed at Methodist hospital on May 21, 2008 I stayed for 2 days and was released. My surgery and post op period are quite un-remarkable. I had no problems, emergencies or concerns. Smooth as ice. Weight loss has been extremely slow for me, at first I was very frustrated. If I only look at the numbers on the scale then I am still frustated, it took a whole year to lose 30 pounds! But the fact is, I am very happy with everything else. I am confortable, my cloths fit, that heart attack feeling has gone away and I am off all of my medications. I am full of Non-scale victories! For the first time in my life, I am glad to be alive and look forward to the future with my band. My advice for newbies: IGNORE THE SCALE AND GET A FRIGGIN LIFE!
