EbonyRose's Story
I've posted quite a bit of my story in my blog, so please visit there for the whole story! :-)The photos I've posted - my 'before' photo is from the Summer of 2008, when I was in Pine Bluff, Arkansas for a Black Pilots Association (BPA) event called Skyhook with my dear husband, who is a private pilot. The 'after' photos is actually an "in progress" photo, from July 2009. I'm about halfway to my goal in my 'after' shot, having lost 55 pounds as of this photo.

I began my bariatric surgery odyssey in August 2008 and was eventually approved and scheduled for surgery in November. My primary care physician, Dr. David Smith, worked with my bariatric surgeon, Dr. Andrew Duffy very closely.I could not be more pleased with the care I've recieved and with Dr. Duffy. He is a no-nonsense kind of guy, which suits my personality. Eveyone in his office has been very supportive and straightforward with the process, my recovery and my progress to date. Dr. Duffy relates well to his patients and was open and honest with me about alternatives and my choices throughout the process. He is adamant about following doc's advice - if you're not prepared to do that, he's probably not the guy for you.He is conservative with fills - not over-filling you, but giving each fill a chance to "work" before scheduling another. He has very clear guidelines about when you should come in to the office, and I've found it easy to get appointments when I need them. He's good about tracking progress and will give you the real info and some 'tough love' when you need it.I highly recommend Dr. Duffy and the entire Yale Bariatric surgery department - they have been instrumental in my success to date, and I feel certain I will reach my weight loss goal with their help.
